Privacy Notice
This notice covers the Site only. It does not cover the Canopy product or the fund data processed there; access to and use of Canopy is governed by the separate agreement and privacy terms that apply to that product.
1Who we are
Toreus Technologies, Inc. (“Toreus,” “we,” “us”) is a corporation organized under the laws of Delaware. Toreus builds Canopy, a deterministic computation layer for private capital. For privacy questions about the Site, contact us at legal@toreus.co.
2What we collect on the Site
We collect limited information when you visit the Site:
- Information you choose to send us — the details you enter in the access-request form (your name, work email, and, optionally, firm and role), and anything you include if you email us.
- Usage and device data collected automatically by our hosting and infrastructure provider (Cloudflare), such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and approximate location, used to serve and secure the Site.
- Local storage used to remember your display preference (your chosen light, dark, or system theme). This stays on your device and is not used to track you.
The Site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not load third-party trackers. We do not sell products on the Site, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
3How we use it
We use Site information to operate, secure, and improve the Site; to review and respond to your access request; to communicate with you; and to comply with legal obligations. A person on our team reads every request. We use your details to review it and nothing else, and we will not add you to a marketing list.
4When we share it
We share Site information only with:
- Service providers who host, secure, and support the Site and help us receive and manage form submissions, acting on our instructions;
- Authorities or third parties where required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property; and
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or similar transaction.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5Access requests
The access-request form and any “Request access” or email links let you contact us. Information you submit that way is handled as described in this notice and used to review your request.
6Cookies and local storage
The Site uses only a minimal, functional set of browser storage:
- Strictly necessary / functional. Storage that is essential for the Site to work and to remember your preferences — specifically your chosen color theme (light, dark, or system).
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. You can control or delete site storage through your browser settings; doing so may reset your saved preference.
7International visitors and EU/UK/EEA users
We are based in the United States, and the Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the US, you understand your information will be processed in the US and other countries, which may have different data-protection laws.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following applies to personal data we process through the Site:
Controller
Toreus Technologies, Inc. is the controller of personal data collected through the Site. Where an Article 27 GDPR representative is required, Toreus will appoint one; until then, contact us at legal@toreus.co. [Add EU/UK representative details before launch if required.]
Lawful bases
We rely on: (a) our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Site and in responding to your inquiries (Art. 6(1)(f)); (b) the steps taken at your request when you request access or contact us (Art. 6(1)(b)); and (c) your consent where we rely on it (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time.
International transfers
When we transfer EEA, UK, or Swiss personal data to the United States or other countries that have not received an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum / IDTA for UK data). You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by contacting us at legal@toreus.co.
Your EU/UK rights
In addition to the rights in Section 8, you may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the EEA) or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
8Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to appeal a decision. To make a request, contact legal@toreus.co. We will respond as required by applicable law, and we may need to verify your identity first.
Because we do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use analytics or advertising cookies, no “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” opt-out is needed.
9Data retention and security
We keep Site information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and we use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls that limit who can view submissions — to protect it. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.
10Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; review their policies separately.
11Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date.
